The Governor’s Appointments Office is currently accepting applications for appointments to the Florida Board of Osteopathic Medicine. The Board was established to ensure that every osteopathic physician and physician in training practicing in Florida meets minimum requirements for safe practice. The Board is responsible for licensing, monitoring, disciplining, and educating osteopathic physicians, residents, interns, and fellows, and when appropriate, rehabilitating licensees to ensure competency and safety to practice in Florida.

The Florida Board of Osteopathic Medicine plays a leading role in the ever-changing health care environment through dialogue with the public, the legislature, academia, other health care providers, and the community. The Board consists of seven members appointed by the Governor and confirmed by the Senate. Five members of the Board must be Florida licensed osteopathic physicians in good standing who are residents of Florida and who have been engaged in the practice of osteopathic medicine for at least four years immediately prior to their appointment. The remaining two members must be consumer members. Consumer members are citizens of Florida who are not, and have never been, licensed health care practitioners. At least one member of the Board must be 60 years of age or older.
